What to Expect

Kutztown Oasis meets Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays after school at Bethel Church of the Nazarene. That’s within walking distance of the middle school and high school.

The Kid Stuff. We always have free snacks– and they’re usually really good. Kids can plop their backpacks down inside and head outside to play a dodgeball-like game (gaga), volleyball, cornhole, basketball, or any number of random games. Lots of kids just hang out and chat with friends. There are quieter rooms inside where kids can use the free wifi to finish homework assignments. Also, our downstairs area is outfitted with a Nintendo Wii with so many games and accessories, foosball and air hockey.

The Golden O Challenge. As a way to get everyone on the same page, we will often have a huddle– just to let everyone know what’s going on for the week. We also have a Golden O Challenge in which students can compete in any number of things for the glory of posing with the Golden O. Previous competitions have been: volleyball, gaga, trivia, cornhole, rock/paper/scissors, and rocket building.

The Boring Stuff (for parents to know). On any given day, there will always be three or more male and female adult volunteers. We have a digital check-in and check-out system; so you can know when kids are there and when they’ve left.
